MISSION

HIS Mission Statement

Hope International Schools provides hope and a future to students and families in the developing world by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, providing excellent education, and breaking the cycle of poverty and oppression.

 

HIS Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible is the true and correct Word of God given to people.  It tells us that God is the Creator of all things.  He is perfectly Holy and Just.  All people have rejected God and sinned.  As a result, all people face eternal death and separation from Him.

However, in His love for us, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to accept our punishment upon Himself through His suffering and death.  Jesus rose in triumph over sin, death, and the devil.  Now, the free gift of eternal life with God is available to all people who believe and accept it.

PURPOSE

To Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with students and families

Everything that we do in building and operating schools must be rooted in God’s direction and carried out in such a way as to reflect God’s love, shown to us through Christ. All business relationships and decisions must be above reproach, free of impropriety and any hint of corruption. All teaching must be founded upon Biblical truth. It is every teacher’s responsibility to share the Gospel with students and their families in speech and action. This is also the responsibility of administrators. All discipline must be designed and carried out to correct the student and lead the student to the truth. Schools will pursue a goal of actively reaching out to students’ families, through meetings and discussions, community events, and other means, including active partnership with the local Church.

 

To Provide excellent education

HIS provides excellent education to HIS students, designed to provide each student with the tools to meet the student’s individual potential in pursuing God’s calling on the student’s life. HIS schools will follow the requisite standards of the local education system. However, since proficiency in spoken and written English is often an important prerequisite to progress in individual careers in the developing world, HIS schools will provide Bilingual education. Roughly half of the classes taught to students will be taught in English. The result will be that students will become fluent in English, both spoken and written. The remainder of classes will be taught in the local language. We are consciously avoiding English-only instruction for the same reason that we will follow local education standards. HIS goal is to raise up Christian leaders in the local community.

The education provided in HIS schools will be academically rigorous. Students will be regularly tested to measure progress and to ensure that each student is reaching that student’s potential. Simultaneously, instruction and interaction will maintain a focus of assisting each student in seeking the student’s unique calling from God. Students will be given the tools to follow God’s calling, in higher education, in the family, and in the community.

 

To Break the cycle of poverty and oppression for vulnerable children

HIS schools will maintain a roughly equal proportion of full-tuition to full-scholarship students. Full-tuition scholarships will be provided to children who qualify based on orphan status or family incomes that indicate a vulnerability to poverty and oppression. All students will receive the same high level of education, regardless of economic or ethnic background. Vulnerable students will gain the opportunity to pursue higher education and career options otherwise unavailable to them.

HIS schools do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of their educational, admissions, scholarship, extra-curricular, and other school-administered programs.
